Off to the Field of Hope - Shwe Thein

Off to the field of Hope demonstrates surge of colors rendered in abstract expressionist mood. According to artist, “ he likes to create dynamic painting using brushstrokes and hues that represents hope. The pieces depicts boat, a distinct image that reminded him of childhood, where he often see them plying upstream and downstream sailing and manned manually by a boat man. The lively route along the river trancended into his canvases- with his use of warm colors, the boat is a sign of journey , its a sign of hope due to its constant movement guided by the expertise of the one’s handling the paddle and the sail. Although modernity and engines replaced the traditional sailing  and paddling, hope still spring in the plight along the river; it warm like his choice of colors in creating the collection in this exhibition.

The exhibit’s theme is a timely presentation in this time of pandemic. The world is a boat rocked by a huge wave perhaps sailing upstream, but journeying the rough waters we see the spark of colors between the thin line of the sky and the water, colors at the horizon that gives us a light of hope.
